Anthropic's decision to watermark every Claude Code output has drawn criticism. Detractors argue it's akin to Microsoft stamping every Excel file just because formulas were used. Since the model doesn't make architectural decisions or debug code, watermarking the user's work is seen as a delusion that the tool is the actual artist.
