Paul Graham Says We've Hit AGI; Researcher Warns It Doesn't Stop Here

Paul Graham argued that if you showed current AI models to someone in 1980, they would unquestionably say we've achieved AGI, suggesting our current skepticism is just because we're standing on the finish line.

In response, AI researcher Ajeya Cotra agreed that "AGI" has become a hopeless term, but emphasized that the crucial realization is that AI capability evolution won't stop. Whatever we have now is nothing compared to what's coming in the next few years.
