Google's official blog detailed the multi-layered defense mechanisms in Chrome designed to protect users from abusive and deceptive notifications. Using a defense-in-depth approach, Chrome successfully halts abuse at the source.
According to the post, these overlapping protections reduced unwanted notifications on Android by over 7 billion a day in Q1 alone. Key strategies include automatically revoking notification permissions based on user interactions and detecting abuse networks.
