Current AI security benchmarks predominantly focus on the underlying large language model. However, new red-teaming research by Lasso Security reveals that in practical deployments, the agent harness plays a critical role in the system's overall security footprint.
The study demonstrates that, holding all other variables constant (including the model itself), simply swapping the agent harness can lead to massive differences in security vulnerabilities. This finding challenges the developer mindset of treating harnesses as neutral wiring, emphasizing that harness-level security must be a core consideration when building and evaluating AI applications.
