Microsoft's latest small-tier coding model, MAI-Code-1.1-Flash, is now available in GitHub Copilot. Building on its predecessor, it adds native vision support for image understanding and delivers improvements across coding quality, instruction following, tool use, and overall performance.
Driven by advances in model and serving efficiency, the model features a 73% lower list price than MAI-Code-1-Flash. For annual Copilot subscribers, it is billed at a 0.25× premium request multiplier, making it highly cost-effective. Copilot Free and Student users get access via auto model selection, while Pro and Enterprise users can manually select it across major IDEs.
