According to The Verge, both OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini have surpassed 1 billion monthly active users. Google CEO Sundar Pichai noted that Gemini is the fastest-growing product in the company's history.
While OpenAI remains the leader, its growth momentum is shifting. ChatGPT reached 900 million weekly active users in February, but took until July to hit 1 billion, indicating a slowdown from its explosive early growth. Both tech giants have entered a new phase in the consumer AI market.
