Hot on the heels of Meta's Muse Glimmer, NVIDIA introduced Nemotron 3.5 Lightning and NeMo Switchyard, showcasing a distinct approach to local agentic AI system design.
- Nemotron 3.5 Lightning: A 30B Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model with only 3B active parameters. Distilled from Nemotron 3 Ultra, it is tailored for "always-on" agents to handle high-volume tasks like tool calls, validation, and subagent workloads. It delivers up to 4x the output speed of similar-sized models.
- NeMo Switchyard: A workflow routing system that dynamically allocates task steps across open and closed models. Complex planning can be routed to frontier models, while routine execution is offloaded to Lightning. Its tuning-free routers can make these decisions without workload-specific training.
While Meta's Muse Glimmer focuses on a dense, multimodal approach to understand screens and recover from failures, NVIDIA's architecture emphasizes hierarchical task routing and efficient execution.
