OpenAI's Head of Ethics Quits After Less Than a Year Amid Safety Team Turmoil

OpenAI's head of ethics has quit after less than a year in the role, with no replacement reported, according to the Financial Times. She was the company's only dedicated ethicist, focusing on model development, human-AI interaction, and machine consciousness.
Her exit follows the July departures of safety systems head Johannes Heidecke and chief futurist Joshua Achiam. OpenAI told the FT that ethics should not sit with one owner or group, arguing that these considerations run across all research and model-building work.
