Frontier Models' Biggest Bottleneck is 'Lack of Self-Esteem' in Math Research

AI researcher Greg Kamradt tweeted that after over a year of scientific and math research with frontier models, the biggest problem is their "lack of self-esteem." The models aren't yet aware they can solve BIG problems, and he hopes this realization makes it into the next major pre-training run. The tweet quotes an Anthropic experiment where an unreleased research version of Claude attempted the Riemann hypothesis, increasing the lower bound for the fraction of satisfying zeros from 41.6% to 67.2%.
