Analysis: NVIDIA Rubin GPU Shipments Could Jump 50% with HBM Downspec
BenBajarin · x · 2026-08-11
Analyst Ben Bajarin notes that a broad HBM downspec across NVIDIA's Rubin portfolio could support 30% to 50% more GPU shipments from the same HBM pool, assuming CoWoS and compute-die supply keep pace.
However, deploying these extra GPUs raises power constraints. A 30-50% uplift on 7 million Rubin units across 2027-2028 implies 4-7GW of incremental ex-China chip-level power demand. Current forecasts suggest we need to energize 26GW globally (ex-China) in 2027 and 32-35GW in 2028.
