Zoom 'Zoomsday' Hack Uncovered Using Fewer Than 20 AI Prompts
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-08-11
According to The Verge, security researchers have uncovered and patched a major vulnerability in Zoom. The researchers stated they discovered the flaw using fewer than 20 prompts on publicly available AI models.
The exploit existed in Zoom's annotation feature. Attackers could use it during a meeting to run malicious code on a victim's device, allowing them to steal data, activate the camera/microphone, or install malware without user interaction. This highlights how AI is significantly lowering the barrier to discovering complex security vulnerabilities.
