AI Token Demand Surges Amid Data Center Moratoriums: How to Break the Deadlock?

Sriram Krishnan points out a looming collision in the U.S.: as agentic capabilities grow and AI diffuses across the economy, token consumption is surging. However, this is clashing with the spreading moratoriums on data center construction, which limit infrastructure expansion.
He suggests that the answers lie in making data centers acceptable and positive for local communities, building them in areas without such restrictions but still meeting perf/$ and energy constraints, and driving vertical efficiency to use fewer tokens for the same output.
