AI Labs Pivot to Offensive Use Cases to Mask Poor Reliability, Says Researcher

AI safety researcher Heidy Khlaaf argues that AI labs are pivoting towards offensive cybersecurity applications (which she dubs "felony humble-bragging").

She points out that attackers only need to succeed once, making poor AI reliability less of a barrier. In contrast, defense requires an extremely low false-positive rate to be effective—a standard that current AI tools have yet to demonstrate.
