Claude Enables Text Watermarks and Metadata Signatures for AI Content

Following the EU AI Act's transparency obligations taking effect, Anthropic now complies by embedding imperceptible watermarks in texts generated by new Claude models and adding signed metadata (C2PA standard) to generated files like images.
The article notes that while watermarks help identify AI involvement, they have limitations: heavily edited, translated, or older model outputs might evade detection. Furthermore, detecting a watermark only proves the text was processed by AI, not that it is entirely AI-authored.
