AI Raises the Startup Bar: Easier Implementation but Maximum Cognitive Load
edgarpavlovsky · x · 2026-08-11
The author argues that while AI makes product implementation easier, it also floods the market with low-quality competitors (AI slop). To stand out, founders must possess exceptional "taste," which requires immense cognitive load to develop and maintain.
Consequently, the overall difficulty of building something truly good has actually increased, as the bar for "good" has moved further than the ease of implementation. The author calls this challenging phase the "AI product trough." Under such maximum cognitive load, founders will be exhausted regardless, making genuine passion for the problem they are solving an absolute necessity to survive the slog.
