Text Watermarks in Code Generation Spark Concerns Over Model Capability Degradation

Commenting on LLM text watermarking, developer @Pv pointed out that if watermarks apply to Claude's generated code, the primary constraint shifts from writing elegant, efficient code to embedding a statistical sequence watermark, which is suboptimal.
A quoted post further analyzed the inherent contradiction: if a watermark is embedded statistically and hard to strip, the model is no longer purely obeying user prompts but spending some of its "freedom" preserving the watermark. This creates an inherent trade-off between watermark robustness and model flexibility. The conclusion is that stronger watermarks impose greater constraints, ultimately making LLMs harder to use.
