Grok Build Remakes Classic Winamp 2 for macOS, Open-Sources C11 Code
Daniel_Farinax · x · 2026-08-11
Developer Daniel Farina used Grok Build to recreate the classic Winamp 2 player for macOS, open-sourcing the project as GrokAmp on GitHub.
Written entirely from scratch rather than decompiled, the project uses C11 and Objective-C. It leverages SDL2 and Cocoa for windowing and Core Audio for audio processing. It faithfully reproduces the classic UI, a 10-band EQ, and a fullscreen MilkDrop visualizer without relying on Electron.
