Multiple developers recently reported that their OpenAI and Anthropic accounts were suspended without explanation, and their appeals were rejected. As work becomes highly dependent on AI tools, this sudden disruption deals a severe blow to users.
Commentators point out that AI labs hold the absolute power to cut off a user's "hands and brain" at will. With the accumulation of model memory and chat history, alongside potential future KYC restrictions, users not only face the risk of losing years of data but may also be reduced to a disenfranchised "digital underclass" with no recourse.
