AI System Produces Infinitely Many Local Systems on Moduli Space of Cubic Threefolds
littmath · x · 2026-08-11
Mathematician Michael Larsen (@littmath) and team have used an autonomous biological intelligent system to achieve a breakthrough in pure mathematics. They produced infinitely many local systems on level covers of the moduli space of smooth cubic threefolds, with an algebraic monodromy group equal to the exceptional group E6. This highlights the potential of AI in assisting with highly abstract mathematical proofs.
