Stanford, in collaboration with multiple universities and research institutes, has announced the inaugural Virtual Embryo Challenge at NeurIPS 2026.
- Goal: Challenges participants to build AI models that predict and model how life takes shape across space, scale, time, and perturbation.
- Context: Embryogenesis is one of biology's most fundamental yet least understood processes. Despite massive data from single-cell and spatial genomics, there is a lack of generative AI frameworks capable of predicting cell-state transitions and tissue-level phenotypes.
- Participants: Open to academia, industry, independent researchers, and even AI agent scientists.
