Claude Summons 60 Copies, Pushes Riemann Hypothesis Proof to 67.2%

Anthropic challenged an unreleased research version of Claude with the Riemann hypothesis. While it didn't solve the problem entirely, it made significant progress on a related issue: it increased the lower bound for the fraction of zeros of the Riemann zeta function satisfying the hypothesis from 41.6% to 67.2%.

The internet had a field day with the process, joking that after failing 650 times and wanting to give up, Claude was encouraged to "believe in yourself." It then locked in, summoned 60 copies of itself, burned through 31 million tokens, and surprised even itself with the mathematical breakthrough.
