5x Speedup for Local Video Generation: WanGP Optimizes Wan2.1
cocktailpeanut · x · 2026-08-11
A tweet highlights breakthroughs in the local deployment and optimization of the popular open-source video generation model Wan2.1.
Thanks to the optimization work by developer @deepbeepmeep on WanGP, specifically the introduction of "Step-skipping" technology, video generation efficiency has massively improved. Generating an 8-second 480p video on an RTX 4070 (12GB VRAM) now takes only 3.53 minutes, down from 18.23 minutes—a 5x speedup. Users can easily try this via a 1-click launcher on Pinokio, which also exposes APIs for all installed apps for advanced usage.
