OpenAI Launches GPT-5.6-Cyber to Help Defenders Find Vulnerabilities Early
The Decoder · rss · 2026-08-11
OpenAI has introduced GPT-5.6-Cyber, a new model tailored for cybersecurity defenders to identify system vulnerabilities before attackers do.
The model answers up to 98.5% of security queries that would typically be blocked and has already uncovered two previously unknown Chrome vulnerabilities. OpenAI emphasizes that the window of opportunity for defenders is shrinking. Access to the model requires strict identity verification to prevent misuse.
