Citing multiple academic studies, the author adds that social media AI leverages reinforcement learning. Through infinite scroll, personalization, and intermittent reinforcement (like occasional likes or new content), algorithms create an "evolutionary mismatch," trapping users in addiction much like animals foraging for food.
