Drones equipped with robotic arms enter commercial deployment

A new robotics lane is opening up: flying robots. Drones can quickly reach a location, and attached robotic arms allow them to perform actual tasks upon arrival.
China’s E-HAWK and WINDSHAPE are both developing drones equipped with robotic arms. WINDSHAPE’s M500 began small-batch deliveries in June, while E-HAWK is taking orders for its ducted-fan flying robot. The M500 coordinates flight and arm control using RTK, LiDAR, and vision. It can swap tools to grip, clean, cut, or install, and has already been tested on power grids and nuclear facilities.
While aerial manipulation has existed in labs for years, the major shift now is the transition into commercial deployment.
