A developer has complained about Anthropic's API billing strategy, pointing out that the platform charges for a "cache-miss" when forcing a tool call.
Since forcing a tool call doesn't actually mutate the prefix, developers feel this billing logic is an incredibly frustrating and unfair practice by the AI lab.
