Karpathy: Hybrid Setup of Cloud Executive Intelligence and Local Models is Very Appealing

Andrej Karpathy expects that we will continue to pack an increasing amount of intelligence into models running on consumer hardware. He finds the hybrid setup very appealing: using a larger cloud model for "executive intelligence" alongside a smaller local model for privacy and latency-sensitive tasks.
He added that it will feel historically weird that people previously couldn't simply talk to their computers like they talk to any other person.
