Report: Google Canceled Gemini 3.5 Pro Over Weak Performance
ChrisGPT · x · 2026-08-10
According to SemiAnalysis, Google silently canceled Gemini 3.5 Pro because its performance was only on par with last year's Opus 4.5. Google reportedly shipped Gemini 3.6 Flash as a bridge and redirected hype to Gemini 4. However, the report notes Gemini still trails behind competitors like Muse Spark 1.2, Grok 4.5, and top-tier Chinese open-source models, ranking around 8th or 9th overall. Furthermore, its coding capabilities fall short of Anthropic's Fable model when tested on harder, independent SWE-bench variants.
