During his freshman year winter break in 2009, Unitree's founder spent 200 RMB on parts and spent months in his dorm building a 14-DOF bipedal humanoid robot. Despite its rough appearance, its flexibility rivaled commercial products costing thousands of RMB. This was the first time he realized his engineering talent.
