A researcher shared their experience using AI for algebraic topology, noting that the AI already outperforms humans in the field, acting as a "better algebraic topologist."
However, they pointed out two major limitations: the AI lacks the intrinsic drive to formulate problems or generate its own research ideas, relying entirely on humans for direction. Additionally, the AI is significantly better at identifying gaps in arguments than it is at actually fixing them.
