Meta Open-Sources 30B Agentic Model, Runs on a Single Consumer GPU

Meta has announced the open-source release of Muse Glimmer under the Apache 2.0 license. This 30B-parameter dense multimodal model is fine-tuned for local agentic tool use, coding, and LLM-as-judge, featuring a 131K context and support for over 100 languages.
Using 4-bit quantization, the model can be compressed to under 20GB, allowing it to run on a single consumer GPU (like the RTX 5090) with a 3.1x speedup via speculative decoding. Alongside the release, Zuckerberg published a 6,500-word essay promising open weights for Muse Spark 1.2 in the coming weeks and announcing a $1B community fund for regions hosting Meta data centers.
