Alibaba Releases Wan-Animate-2: Real-Time End-to-End Character Animation Framework
aigclink · x · 2026-08-10
Alibaba has introduced Wan-Animate-2, an end-to-end character image animation framework designed for ultra-low latency real-time interaction, unlocking applications like virtual livestreamers and digital humans.
- Training Optimization: Uses a three-stage training method (Teacher forcing, error buffering, Self-Forcing distillation, and chunked backpropagation) to compress generation time from minutes to real-time streaming.
- End-to-End: Eliminates the need for intermediate motion extraction (like skeletons or keypoints), preventing character distortion caused by extraction errors.
- Decoupled Perspective: Breaks the hard binding between the driving video's camera angle and the output perspective. Users can change the camera angle via text prompts, completely decoupling motion from viewpoint.
The framework performs well in complex motions, facial expressions, and physical plausibility, supporting motion transfer from single-to-multi-person and cross-identity.
