Grok Imagine 2.0 Ships, Jumping to #2 Globally in Image Generation

xAI has quietly shipped Grok Imagine 2.0, propelling it to the #2 spot globally on the image generation leaderboard, right behind GPT-image-2.
This upgrade is not just a tuning pass but a new toolset:
- Magic Wand: edits only the region you point at
- Segmentation: for precise recoloring or replacement
- Built-in background removal and Multi-reference input (fuses up to 5 images)
- Smart Resize across 9 aspect ratios and various templates
In terms of scores, its text-to-image Elo jumped from 1228 to 1320 (+92), and image editing increased from 1390 to 1439 (+49). API pricing is listed as 'coming soon,' while the old model cost $0.05 per image.
