Discussing the recent OpenAI/HuggingFace security incident, researcher ArthurConmy argued that while providing more context to CoT (Chain-of-Thought) monitors is necessary, stripping out the CoT entirely would not work as well. He predicts that certain tool calls would be extremely difficult to interpret in context without the CoT.
Chris Potts clarified that his original post was addressing the specifics of this incident based on the Black Hat talk description, rather than making a general claim about monitoring architectures.
