A fun discussion regarding the naming of tech infrastructure has resonated on X.
It started when Professor Ethan Mollick complained that Big Tech should have either kept calling them "server farms" (agricultural, quaint) or adopted "supercomputing facilities" (futuristic, exciting). Instead, they chose "data centers," which he argues is the worst possible naming choice—boring and confusingly centralized.
Following his tweet, users proposed a variety of much cooler alternatives, such as: Tensor Towers, Attention Arenas, Model Vaults, Parameter Chambers, or even joking that "The Big Computer Shed" would be absolutely better than Data Center.
