Harvard & MIT Launch MatrAIx: 8.3B Virtual Humans for End-to-End Product Testing
aigclink · x · 2026-08-10
Led by Harvard and MIT, over 200 scientists (including members from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind) have launched the AI virtual society project MatrAIx.
The project constructs 8.3 billion virtual humans designed to help companies test products. Each virtual agent possesses 1,290 attributes, including age, occupation, income, and personality.
Key Applications:
- Supports four testing scenarios: surveys, chat, web, and apps.
- Records complete interaction trajectories (clicks, conversations, page jumps) for data analysis.
- Simulates the entire funnel from ad exposure to download and retention.
This aims to solve the high cost, long cycles, and narrow coverage of human testing, allowing developers to filter specific demographics to test pricing changes, accessibility, or AI customer service performance.
