Developer Uses Codex and VM Pool for Fully Automated Isolated App Testing

___Patrice___ · x · 2026-08-10

A developer shared their experience of using Codex to build an automated testing workflow. By setting up a pool of VMs backed by incrementally updated VHDX caches, Codex can build the app locally, queue it, reset the VM, and execute click and keystroke tests inside it. It saves screenshots and results before powering the VM off, enabling isolated native app testing without interrupting the developer's ongoing work.
