EU Digital Services Act Adopts Precision and Recall for Content Moderation Metrics

A researcher announced that recommendations from their previous paper on social media regulation have been officially adopted into EU law (the Digital Services Act).
Previously, the law only required tech companies to report the "accuracy" of their content moderation systems. The paper argued this was insufficient and suggested using "precision" and "recall" instead. This change will substantially impact how AI moderation systems are evaluated.
