Bitcoin red team researcher @Rob1Ham reported that after completing KYC and onboarding for OpenAI’s cybersecurity program, he was blocked from conducting further security analysis on a Bitcoin codebase for which he had already responsibly disclosed vulnerabilities.
He argued that OpenAI’s safety restrictions hinder defensive white-hat research and announced he will switch to Chinese open-source AI models to continue protecting Bitcoin infrastructure.
