DeepMind CEO Hassabis: AGI Could Arrive Around 2030
TansuYegen · x · 2026-08-09
Google DeepMind Co-founder and CEO Demis Hassabis stated that AGI is not a calendar problem, but rather an institutional adaptation problem.
He noted that we are currently in the foothills of the singularity and estimated that AGI is only a few years away, around 2030 plus or minus a year. The real shock will occur when technology outpaces existing systems like schools, laws, hiring, and safety frameworks, potentially causing them to break. Therefore, society needs to start preparing for this transformation immediately.
