Control an iPhone from Windows with AI agent: sidetap open-source tool, no Mac or jailbreak needed

SIGH_I_CALL · reddit · 2026-08-09

A developer shares sidetap, an open-source Python tool that lets an LLM agent (or user) control a real iPhone from Windows over USB, without a Mac, jailbreak, or paid developer account. The project solves the issue of free Apple ID signatures preventing WebDriverAgent from starting, by re-signing it. Features include reading the UI element tree, live browser view (34fps), guardrails for sending messages, native MCP tools (e.g., for Claude Code), a big red STOP button, and a doctor command. Signatures expire every 7 days but can be re-signed with one command. MIT licensed, code in comments.
