New Research: Optimizing Contact Timing for Fluid Humanoid Running and Gymnastics

Scobleizer · x · 2026-08-09

A newly announced method allows humanoid robots to naturally replicate intense human movements like running, jumping, and gymnastics.

Instead of pre-determining contact timing with the floor or objects, the approach calculates and optimizes movements so that contact emerges naturally. This prevents the slight contact mistimings that typically cause falls, resulting in more natural and physically consistent motions than previous methods.
