Sam Altman Confirms Astra's Power, Rumor Suggests Month-End Release
haider1 · x · 2026-08-09
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently confirmed the powerful capabilities of the Astra model, stating they are working to make it generally available. He noted that keeping powerful models to a chosen few isn't a good strategy, but given its cyber capabilities, they need more time to do this safely.
A tech blogger predicted a launch by the end of this month based on historical patterns, noting that the last time Altman tweeted about GPT-5.6 delays, the model launched about two weeks later.
