Vercel Launches Passport: Enterprise Identity Authentication for AI Agents

Vercel has announced Passport, a new product designed to secure internal AI agents, applications, and deployments using existing enterprise identity providers.
- Core Mechanism: After a user authenticates through an Identity Provider (e.g., Okta, Auth0, MS Entra, or any OAuth 2.0 / OIDC provider), Passport issues a signed JWT to the agent via the x-vercel-oidc-passport-token header.
- Access Control: When agents query data sources like Snowflake or Salesforce, permissions apply to the real person rather than a shared service account, ensuring fine-grained security.
- Pricing: It features flat-rate pricing, allowing companies to gate all internal tools, agents, and apps without additional per-user costs.
