OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated in a recent interview that 'we are now, like, in the singularity'. He mentioned that a decade ago, this was just a far-off dream discussed casually at the lunch table, but now we are actually living in that moment.
However, he offered a nuanced perspective: while it is true that we are on a crazy exponential curve, no single moment is necessarily the definitive tipping point. He believes we are in another decisive period where the trajectory of the curve could still go either way, much like when they started ten years ago.
