The widely used compute efficiency metric MFU (Model FLOPS Utilization) was originally introduced partly as a marketing metric to highlight the benefits of avoiding AC.
However, you rarely hear its counterpart HFU (Hardware FLOPS Utilization) these days, perhaps because dropping the M leaves a somewhat unfortunate acronym.
