According to calculations by physicist Rob Davies, the facility—covering an area the size of Washington D.C.—could raise nighttime temperatures in the surrounding desert valley significantly, preventing natural dew formation and permanently stripping local ecosystems of a vital water source.
Furthermore, cited analysis indicates that such massive data centers can increase ambient temperatures by up to 9°C within a 10-kilometer radius.
