Anthropic Updates Claude Bio-Safeguards, Cutting False Positives by 85%
surmenok · x · 2026-08-09
Anthropic officially announced an update to Claude's (codenamed Fable 5) biology safeguards to minimize false positives on everyday health and educational queries.
In internal testing, the update reduced biology-related fallbacks by approximately 85% across its platforms. However, for requests deemed high-risk or potentially dual-use—such as virology, toxicology, and molecular design—the model will continue to fall back to Opus 5, meaning it is not yet fully usable for professional biological research and drug development.
