Anthropic Investors Push to Soften AI Risk Warnings Pre-IPO, CEO Refuses
TheTuringPost · x · 2026-08-09
As Anthropic approaches its IPO, some investors are pressuring CEO Dario Amodei to soften his stark warnings about AI risks to improve public perception. A board member even suggested mimicking Microsoft and Meta by promoting positive applications like AI in drug discovery.
However, Amodei reportedly rejected these proposals, arguing that existential risks to humanity require different handling than ordinary tech marketing. Shareholders have little leverage over him anyway, as he keeps major decision-making tightly controlled within a small circle of co-founders and family.
