ChatGPT Quietly Downgrades Image Uploads, Preventing Full-Resolution Edits
Rothiri · reddit · 2026-08-09
A user reported that ChatGPT has quietly downgraded its image upload resolution limits. Previously, users could upload full-resolution photos for AI to rescale or tweak contrast, but the system now automatically resizes images to something much smaller.
After contacting support, the user learned this is the new default behavior, implemented without prior notice. The author complains that arbitrarily removing useful features is a classic sign of the "enshittification" cycle of the product.
